About Tai Chi

The word  Chi Kung is made up of two Chinese words:
wavesbul1

Chi (pronounced chee) translates to mean the life force, energy that flows through all things in the universe.  It is the intrinsic energy that flows through the body and is often associated with the flow of blood.  When our Chi is strong, we are healthy. When the Chi is weak, or stagnant, illness occurs.  Chi is also sometimes written as Qi, although the pronunciation is the same.

Kung (pronounced gong), means skill or accomplishment that is cultivated through steady, diligent practice.

Flowing Waters Tai Chi teaches Tiger Mountain Tai Chi Kung which is a series of 9 movements, each of which is repeated 4 times.   These movements are designed to use the mind and the breath to increase and circulate the Chi throughout the body and to ensure that it flows freely and is not blocked. This can lead to lowered blood pressure, reduced stress and overall healing.
